The Ramayana is the immense work of Valmiki, who is regarded as the first poet of India. It is one among two most famous and influential India epic stories, with the Mahabharata being the other one. Valmiki’s Ramayana becomes an important piece of Hindu canon. It portrays the duties of relationships, the ideal characters like the ideal father, ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal wife and the ideal king. In its broader theme, the story explores human values and the concept of dharma. The story and philosophy of Ramayana has spread and become influential to some countries outside India too, especially South-East Asian countries with Hinduism background in their history. In countries like Thailand and Indonesia, the love story of Rama and Sita is widely known to the people and many works (dances, sculptures, paintings) have been created based on the story.
